Mamma Mia! - the Musical

Yessh I just came home from Istana Budaya.

When we reached Istana Budaya, mummy bumped into a USM friend, and so they chatted. I browsed through the souvenirs available .. hahah, I saw the pair of RM75 pants Amelia bought :\

When I turned a little bit, I saw Dawn and Joy from ballroom class. hah! What a coincidence! I also saw Dhama from school :) Bought a programme book and we went in. I was sooo excited i couldn't phrase sentences properly.

We sat about 6 rows from the stage, which was awesome cos we could see the formation and the expressions of the cast perfectly. The music blasted on :) ahhh! AND SO IT STARTED!

The musical was awesome. My favourite from the cast would be Leigh McDonald who played Rosie, Geraldine Fitzgerald who played Tanya, John Alastair who played Harry Bright, and Gary Watson who played Sky. Personally, I think Jackie Clune wasn't much of a 'Donna' as Meryl Streep was. But her singing was very very good. She sang every song very very well, the only song I wish she could've been more 'crazy' was Mamma Mia, when she finds out all 3 of the men she used to date was on the island.

Leigh McDonald (Rosie) was awweeesome. She was very very funny, especially in her Dancing Queen and her Take a Chance on Me number. She and Geraldine Fitzgerald really clique well, they were so carefree and very very spontaneous. It was hilarious watching those two on stage.

John Alastair (Harry) did an awesome job as well. On stage, he even looks a little like Colin Firth. Michael Beckley (Bill) ... I liked his number with Leigh McDonald (Rosie) - Take a Chance on Me.

Miria Parvin who plays Sophie Sheridan has a strong voice.

And just like what Isaac and Millie says, yes ... Gary Watson (Sky) does look like Tag from F.R.I.E.N.D.S. When the cast did their curtain call, my eyes were glued on him. When the cast sang Mamma Mia as the finale, my eyes were still glues onto him. And when the cast gave us a last song, Waterloo, my eyes were still still glued onto him .. :) BOY can he dance.

When the cast sang their last two songs, everyone in the audience stood up, clapped along to the music, sang along and had a good time. :) Was amazing.

I think the movie was a tad bit better. But I really really really enjoyed the musical as well. I was hoping for a cast autograph session after the musical, but there weren't any. But we did see the cast and dancers walking out of Istana Budaya :)

THE MUSICAL WAS AWESSOME!

It's finally here.

It's PMR results day tomorrow.

Joy.

I've lost count of the number of people that asked me how many A's I reckon I'm gonna get. What I'm really nervous about is facing my class teacher. I have no idea how I'm gonna go through with tomorrow, but I'm hoping for a smooth go to school, get the results, talk to some friends, get into the car, give mummy the news, go home, face the brother (maybe I'll skip this step), call my dad, probably get on skype and then I'll listen to music in my room while I get started on my sorting out what goes where.

But I'm looking forward to New Years Eve. I'm really excited to what 2009 will bring me. I've gt my 2009 resolution written down on paper. Maybe I'll read it out to my parents on New Years Eve, hahah, give them a good laugh. One of them would be to put in more effort in my studies for 2009-2010. I can say I'm not very very worried about PMR, but I can't lie I'm not nervous about SPM.

I'm looking forward to going back to school! Get to see Lat, Trishi, the whole table and everyone else again. I can't wait to find out who my subject teachers are, who my classmates are ... it's a new year :)

I'm excited.

Nando's Hot Peri-Peri

Rehearsal was the usual. But today, Kak Sabrina, the director, was our warm-up instructor :) 'Twas a good warm up, it made me feel relaxed but at the same very awake. Uhh, yeah :) Peter, our singing instructor also instructed our vocal warm ups. I learned new stuff, like how to breathe properly when singing. Thats the one thing, other than impossibly high pitched notes, I get bummed out by when it comes to singing. :) I enjoyed the warm up.

Keith, who plays Edna in Welcome to the 60's had to go back to Seremban, family matters. So I was singing to an invisible Edna when we rehearsed the song :D haha. When the adults were rehearsing I Hope I Get It, most of the kids were outside the rehearsal room, practicing our vocals for Welcome to the 60's. Shahila and Soon Yoon helped us out, thank you thank you :)

Amelia, Siti and I exchanged blonde jokes. :) Funny. Krystle and I had a conversation about Latin and Ballroom dancing with Kelvin and Alfred, lol, the pros. All that talking scared me a little, about going for competitions, but at the same time made me WANT to go for competitions anyway :)

After rehearsal, Krystle, Cheryl, Aizat, Sean and I went for dinner before catching the LRT back home. We had Nando's! :D I haven't had Nando's in sooo long, was sort of pleased they suggested to have dinner there. ONE of us, couldn't stand the spiciness of the chicken, we ordered a bowl of hot water to 'rendam' the spicy chicken in, so that it wasn't spicy no more. hahah! I have never seen that ever before, but it was hilarious! The waiter was laughing too. lol.

After that, we ( the girls ) went to Chamelon. Cheryl bought some stuff. Krystle and I wanted to get Aizat a gift, cos he gave us each a pair of earrings, so it only should be that we returned the gesture. We didn't know which ring ( yeaah we got him a ring, according to Aizat, he was more of a 'ring' man ) he'd like, so we asked him for advice. Said it was for a 'friend'.

We bought the one he suggested. And on the train back home, we gave it to him :D hahah. Sean and Aizat already suspected what was going on. Krystle and I have to work on our secret gift shopping. :)

P/S : We pinky-promised, Krystle! :D hahah. I know you won't tell anyone, so I don't have to worry riiight :D Next time its your turn! :D

Jack Dawson.

My 100th post on blogspot :) And I dedicate this to the Titanic, Rose and Jack Dawson.

Had singing rehearsal at Duta Nusantara today. Was good :) Still can't hit the high notes in 'One' strongly, but practice should help.

I watched Titanic. I mentioned in an earlier post that I had a crush on Leonardo DiCaprio way back then. I think, Titanic is the only movie that can get me crying every time I watch it. I got all emotional when Jack and Cal urged Rose to get onto one of the life boats. When the crew heaved the boat down onto the water, Rose just stared at Jack and slowly we couldn't hear the voices of crew yelling for order, people screaming in panic, or children crying anymore ... She heard Jack :) Just Jack.

My eyes filled with tears, I tried holding back, I didn't want the tears to fall. But then Rose jumped out of the life boat and back onto the ship. She ran, and so did Jack. When Jack found Rose one deck lower, he just grabbed her into his arms and kept saying over and over again, "Why did you do that Rose?! You're so stupid, why did you do that?!" but in between sentences he'd kiss her. I couldn't hold it back no more, I cried like a baby all the way till the end of the movie.

I cried even more when Jack and Rose were in the water, and Jack made Rose promise him, however hopeless she felt, in whatever condition she was in, she would survive the night. That she will die and old woman in her warm bed and not in the ice cold water, not that night. Watching Jack Dawson, I just felt like running to Leonardo DiCaprio and giving him a big big big emotional hug. He's the closest thing to Jack Dawson :)

I cried even harder when one of the life boats came back to rescue survivors in the water. Rose saw the boat and she tried waking Jack, but he never did. She left him in the water, and kept the promise she made to him.

In my opinion, no movie has topped Titanic. Nope, not Men of Honor, not FlyBoys, not even The Pursuit of Happiness. Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio gave such depth to their characters, even though there really weren't any Rose or Jack Dawson aboard the Titanic, ya can't help, but in your eyes their characters is and will be forever alive.

I love this movie.

Legally Blonde .. :\ uhh, deep deep deep down inside

After the casting this morning, mummy picked me up at 2.40pm. We had to rush a little as ballroom class started at 3pm.

Made it in time for ballroom class. Today we did more Modern Ballroom than Latin. I wonder how many times can I say this until ya'll get sick of it :) Waltz is ... tough. That or I'm terribly un-Waltz-coordinated. I can do the steps solo ( I think ), but when it comes to partnering, I still get nervous and I mess up big time.

I did the Waltz with Sean at first. Guurrrhh total disaster, I couldn't get my steps right and Sean had to put up with me for the whoooole dance. Then when the class switched partners, I was partnered with Brendan. A little better, cos I got to get used to the whole partnering with Sean first. But I still messed up pretty bad.

After that I partnered Johnston. He's one of the more advanced students. I was soo nervous I'd mess up. Psssh, and I did. Once ... no, twice, he tripped on my foot cos my foot was were it shouldn't be, really.

I love Waltz. Very beautiful dance, seriously. But I got a little bummed out after that, or maybe I was just a little tired from the casting this morning. But anyway, we learned the Tango today! :D

I took a short nap before dinner. That made me feel a bit better. Spent the night switching here and there from watching musicals and dancesport competitions on the internet. Am watching Legally Blonde - the Musical right now. :D heh, funny musical. Personal favourite number from the whole musical would be Serious and I Am So Much Better

I love-a Bryan Watson and Carmen Vincelj, they're from Germany. :D Not that I don't still love Slavik+Karina, but they're no longer partners, which is a little sad cos their Rhumba is amaaaazing. So I thought maybe I could support a couple thats still competing in recent competitions. Bryan and Carmen have been dancing together since 1999, I think. :) I like their expressions.

December 25, 2008

.... YES ! nyahah!

Had breakfast with the family at one of our favourite mamaks'. The putu mayam (spelling?) there is very good. But by the time we got there, twas finished . Boo.

Daddy, the siblings and I went to Sunway for a movie. Like I mentioned in the previous post, mummy had tea plans with her friends.

Guess what mooovie we watched??!

It. was. HILARIOUS :) Jim Carrey is a comedy genius. It wasn't too much, but it didn't disappoint, either. It was awesome. awesome. awesome. awesome. I recommend you guys to go watch, it'll be a good laugh. Honestly, I haven't laughed like how I did in the cinemas for so long. I'll also be saying "Yes" more often, grrah :) the movie got me.

Had pizza hut after the movie. Food was a little slow, I'm guessing cos they had lots of customers, it's always a full house in Sunway's Pizza Hut. So daddy, the siblings and I played a few rounds of Texas poker. :) hah. It was Jean's first time playing, but she put all three of us to shame O.o

We kept saying, "psssh, beginners luck."

Then we played another game, poker.

O.o she beat us in that one as well.

Go watch Yes Man! :D

December 24, 2008

I've got to email Santa

To tick off all the stuff on my wish list that's been collecting dust.

Merry Christmas to those who celebrate :) I hope you guys are having a wonderful time. It's 2 hours to Christmas Eve! :D

I've been hooked onto Miss Saigon the Musical. I can't help but go on Youtube and listen to songs all day long. The songs are so meaningful, and LeaSalonga just does an amazing job. She's one of the many gifted singers on this planet. Can you believe she was only 18 when Miss Saigon became such a hit?

Some of the songs I favour from the musical.

  • Too Much for One Heart
  • Sun and Moon
  • I'd Give my Life for You
  • The Movie in My Mind
  • I Still Believe
The family and I went out for dinner. Sort of like a Christmas outing thing, even though we don't celebrate. But our friends are all in the festive mood, kind of got us into the festive mood, so why waste such a good feeling.

Dad might be bringing us out for a movie tomorrow. :) Have yet to decide what movie. Any suggestions?

December 23, 2008

You have GOT to listen to this girl sing. GOT TO.

This is Charice Pempengco. She's 16 and she's from the Philippines. Singing I Will Always Love You

Let me hear your song :)

Siti came over this morning at 9am.

I woke up at 8.30am  ... and when I realized I had only half an hour to get ready I jumped outta bed and was rushing up the stairs. My right leg was numb cos I was sleeping with that leg folded and tucked under my left leg. lol, When I took a step on the stairs, I toppled and fell flat on my bottom. I panicked cos I couldn't feel my leg, I thought I broke it.

After a few seconds, the prickly feeling (after the numb feeling, theres always a prickly feeling, right?) came. I sighed in relief, knowing I did not break my leg.

I taught Siti the Bella's Lullaby by Yiruma. She learns fast. Even for someone who doesn't read musical notes, she could play the piece in a jiffy :) Practice makes perfect, right?

We had the green spaghetti sauce for lunch. After that Siti had to go home. lol, when her mom stopped in front of our house, Humairah ran onto our porch with Hakim and she was calling for Jean. lol. When Jean came, Humairah hugged her and I couldn't help but go, "Awww".

I watched Men of Honor again. I wish I had the determination and the will of Carl Brashear. Its just . Amazing .

AH! :D And I watched Cinderella III. Hottie hot hottie prince-ey :D He's so cute.

December 22, 2008

Emm .. Romanov?

Just before Mandarin tuition this morning, I switched on to Star Movies and almost jumped when I saw Anastasia on the TV. Yyuuup, the cartton Anastacia. I can't say much, probably shouldn't anyway, I'd start rambling away.

I love Anastasia. Mostly because everytime I watch the movie, I can't help but wonder what happened to the real Anastasia. When I was still in primary school, I used to spend hours on the internet reading about the Romanov family. One article I read stated that it wasn't sure if it was Anastasia that survived, or her sister, Maria. I can't help but wonder if Anastasia/Maria knew that they were the rightful heir to the Russian throne after the tragedy, or if they could remember anything at all. Russian scientists announced that the charred remains of a young boy and a young woman found near Ekatireinburg in August 2007 might be of the 2 missing children of the Romanov family (their only son, Alexei, also escaped).

On the 30th April 2008, Russian forensic scientists confirmed the bodies to be of Tsarevich Alexei and one of his four sisters (Maria/Anastasia).

Part of me liking the movie was also because of Dimitri :) I think he's one of the few cute animated characters. Top of the cute animations would be .... Aladdin :)

I also watched The Nanny Diaries this afternoon. :) Harvard Hottie still gets to me.

Nooooooooooooooooooo!

I just confirmed with daddy ...

We're not going to Terengganu

): nyeeeh ): ahhhh ):

My sister's not gonna like this. She was really looking forward to the camping outside the chalet, campfire and the marshmallows we never roast properly.

Mae : Daddy, are we going to Terengganu?

Dad : Em ... Most likely not. We have to wait for your results?

Mae :     O.o

Dad : Juuuust for you.

Mae :     O.O!! What about the plane ticket?

Dad : That's okay.

Maaaaan, I feel so bad ): Family trip cancelled cos of my waiting for PMR results. If I didn't score well, I'll feel even worse for causing this miss ):

It gets old.

I called my school this afternoon, maybe the staff there could shed some light on when the PMR results were coming out. No luck. The reply I got was, "Lama lagi."

O.o lama lagi? Schools about to re-open in about a week. At first I was really anxious for the results. Soon after I sort of forgot about dooms day, and now I just want to get it done and over with. Honestly I think the anxiety just wore off and right now it's like baggage I'm dragging instead of making new room to prepare for the much waited 2009.

Oh well :)

I was sorting out the re-usable exercise books from the ones I had to recycle. No surprise, many exercise books we used halfway. The other half of the book forgotten and gone to waste. So I thought I'd use the extra pages to practice mathematical equations. Or maybe to doodle on :)

My room isn't done, either. But thats no rush. Most of the furniture-shifting is done, it's just the new wall shelves and probably a small dressing table. All my books are all over the room, I'll have to wait 'till the wall shelves are installed before I can arrange them properly.

The family planned to head up to Terengganu on the 24th-29th. That's two days from now, but since when the PMR results will the released is still unknown, plans are unsure. Sad part is that my dad already bought the plane ticket from Terengganu to KL on the 26th cos we thought the results would be out on the 27th. :\ So this means I'm not sure if I'll be able to make it for ballroom class and DTB rehearsal.

Few things I'm looking forward to as of today - 1st January 2009.

  • Trip to Terengganu.
  • The A Holly Jolly Christmas show airing on christmas day. :)
  • Mamma Mia! - the Musical on the 30th of december
  • And ofcourse, New Years Eve! :D

December 20, 2008

Smooth - Santana ft. Rob Thomas

I find myself listening to that song morning ... uh ... morning till night.

Rehearsal in two hours. I feel so stiff and my neck aches like I can't describe. I think I tore a muscle ):

I hate mirrors.

Those were the days.

Last night (19.12.08), Daddy brought the siblings and myself to the bowling alley at Mines. He had a company bowling friendly tournament. lol, these people really know how have a fun time.

The siblings and i bought one game (for the game console) each while we waited for the tournament to end. I flipped through the many many games they had, and when my eyes spotted the familiar Harry Potter font I knew that was the game I wanted.

Sean and I couldn't sleep. We didn't sleep the whole night, actually. But I (finally) dozed off at seven in the morning. I played the Harry Potter and the Order of Phoenix. ahhhhh it's waaaaaay better than the Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban game I have. For the spells, you actually have to move the hand of Harry Potter to cast a spell.

:D! HOW COOL IS THAAAT?! It's not like ... tap 'X' to cast Flipendo or tap 'O' to cast Accio or something like that. Every spell has a different wand movement. But like 3 minutes into the game, the game got stuck :( ahhhhhh. I re-started the game but it was stuck - again. Bummer.

Today (20.12.08), the siblings and I went with daddy to the Pallace of the Golden Horses for a conference. One of daddy's friends saw us and said :"Macam orang Jepun, your kids." lol ... uhh, thanks?

After the conference we went straight to KL Convention Centre for the USM Alumni dinner. The dinner was pretty fun. Food was great :) I liked the dessert.

There was a Russian thing going on in KL Convention Centre. Before the dinner, Sean went down the car to get something. He told me when he was in the elevator, a white man was in the same elevator and this was what he said ..

White guy : What floor?

Sean : Lobby, thanks.

White guy : So, what're you here for?

Sean : The USM dinner.

White guy : Oh. I thought you were Russian.

lol. The Raja and Raja Perempuan of Perlis were the guests of honor. So the red carpet was laid out from the entrance to the third floor where the dinner was. After the dinner, when almost everyone left, Daddy, the siblings and I goofed around and took photos on the red carpet. lol, just to have a laugh.

I apologize if the sentences dont make any sense. Or if there's one too many grammatical errors. Its late, I'm tired, I have rehearsal early tomorrow morning, I don't think I should re-read before I post it. :) So I guess I'll edit tomorrow.

16 Facts about me :)

Directions.

Once you've been tagged,  you have to write a note with 16 random things, facts, habits, or goals about you. At the end, choose 16 people to be tagged, listing their names and why you chose them.

1 . The purple canvas sneakers I bought in Bei Jing were my first ever proper sneakers with shoe laces.

2 . I have a rabbit soft toy. She wears a pink dress with lace and has a cute pink button nose. I've had her since forever, we've washed her so often the color of her dress faded. Once, I lost her in IKEA, but the staff found her and returned her to me. I've yet to name her. :) Even though I don't carry her around wherever I go, I still love her and I'll never ever give her away.

3 . If I could, I'd stop going to school, study on my own, at my own pace, and what I'm interested in. But I shouldn't. So I won't. But I want to. But I won't.

4 . I do think Zac Efron is good looking. Even in High School Musical.

5 . I don't like to use curse words. When I do I feel really guilty. Words like "Shut up" or "Stupid" come outta me, but I don't like it :( I try to stop. But it's hard once you start. The first time I swore was near end std6.

6 . I wish I was a princess. Not just any princess. A Disney princess. :)

7 . My first celebrity crush was Leonardo DiCaprio. I saw him in Titanic as Jack :) ohhh, I loved him. I envied Kate Winslet in that movie.

8 . I want to travel around the world really really badly.

9 . When I was younger, I used to want to guest star in That's So Raven. I had the dream almost every kid had, to be a star, lol :) Deep inside I still have that dream. The show now being Wizards of Waverly Place. Deep inside, I do wish I could make it big. hahah, I'd better get my head out of the clouds and back on earth.

10 . I think both my grandmothers are funky and fun. I think I'm just too shy to be loud and funky with them. Yeaaah, I'm shy around my grandmothers. Maybe it's cos I don't see them very often. I see nenek once a week, I visit pohpoh (pronounced puo puo, hahah :) like .. once a year. But I wish I were closer to my grandma's.

11 . My biggest fear is being alone. Not like, in a room. I fear not having my family and friends around, I fear all my loved ones not around, just me. Just me in this scary world. I don't think I'd survive. After that fear would be the fear of darkness. I cannot be in a dark room alone. If theres a blackout, I wouldn't move. I'd scream for someone to come to me. Worst scenario would be me taking a shower and suddenly a black out happens. So far it hasn't happened, pray it never does.

12 . My first best friend was Irena DeFillipou from kindergarten. She moved to Terengganu when I was seven ... or eight. Never heard from her for a loooong time, recently I found her on Facebook. :) And for that, I love Facebook. Once, I lent her my barbie horse, she got frustrated combing the horses long mane, when she returned the horse, the mane was gone O.o and the tail was shorter.

13 . When I was in primary school, we ... Alysha Lee Qian Ying, Marisa Soong Wei Yi, Michelle Ng Mei Jun and myself were the best of friends. We were in the same class since std 3. lol, but the thing was, we had cat fights like crazy. First alysha and I would be on the same side, after another fight Mei Jun and I would be against Marisa and Alysha, after that Marisa and I would fight with Alysha and Mei Jun. But I can't remember what were the fights about :) lol. We're not close anymore, but I cherish those moments. Bitter or sweet. Uhh ... Bittersweet :)

14 . I wish I were taller. It'll make clothes (especially gowns), ballroom dancing, and standing in an audience SOOOOO much easier to tackle. ): I hope it isn't too late to grow.

15 . I have a crush on Chandler from F.R.I.E.N.D.S.

16 . Umm ... I'm getting tired of slapstick comedy movies. e.g. the beginning of Tropic Thunder. That was just toooo much.

Of Kim Possible and Roaches

You won't believe what time I woke up this morning. 12.59nn. O.o It was almost one o'clock and I'm still in bed?! Goodness. A part of me was saying, "Atleast I don't have to wait that long 'till ballroom class." but another part of me said, "I probably wasted 5 hours of my life staying in bed instead doing something productive somewhere out there."

I spent last night in front of the computer just browsing through the internet. Thoughts flooded my brain. I can only remember two of the many things I was wondering my night away.

  1. I wondered if anyone on earth has visited every single website there was on the internet. Which is kind of close to impossible, but history has taught to never say nothing's impossible. So :) If there is a dude out there whose visited every existing website, I wish to meet up and ask you questions ... first question to be :"Why bother?" With a smile.
  2. It's never happened to me. But I wonder if anyone's bought the wrong plane ticket. Like, he/she planned for a holiday in Finland but accidently bought a ticket to Alaska .. or something like that.
  3. I wondered if the voice talent for Fu dog from the Disney cartoon American Dragon was the same guy that did the voice of Dr. Draken from Kim Possible.
  4. I wondered what my prom night would be like. I know my prom night is like, 2 years away, but I'm already so excited. The dress shopping with my mom, on the day itself when I'd have to get our hair and make up done. If I could have it this way, I'd like to dress shop with my mom, and get hair and make up done with my friends :) It'll be such an interesting experience. And the laaaaaaast thing that came into my mind when I thought about prom .... Who's gonna be The Date? :\ nyeeeh. I have two years :)
Just came home from ballroom lesson. :\ It's getting tougher. Today Belman concentrated more on our body shaping and posture. That's two things I find most difficult about ballroom dancing. My shoulders kind of slump emm ... naturally. It's really frustrating, I can't pull up properly.

At the end of class, Belman made all of us do twenty spins from one end to the other of the dance floor. :) lol, halfway doing my spins I got so dizzy I had to stop and take a breather. He says practice and it won't be so dizzy-fy-ing.

They're back!

Early this year, or was it late last year, I'd hog the computer watching Syncsta videos the whole day through. Few months before Christmas, they stopped posting up videos. Wasn't official why. Now Jake tells us the reason why cos he joined the Army and during his training he encountered a back injury, and just got out about 2 weeks before the video was posted.

Syncsta is a two man youtube 'sensation', Jake Walmsley and Chris Green. They'd lip sync to a song, any random song, and post a video. Many people do it, but I like watching Syncsta, maybe it's their charisma thats so appealing. :) hahah. They got sort of known for their videos, they did photo shoots, have a fan site, they even appeared on the Lily Allen show. There are even fake Jake Walmsley and Chris Green accounts of Bebo, Facebook, and Myspace. lol

Recently they made a vlog! :D I love their accent.

I watched Wizards of Waverly Place just now. I love their script, their jokes are so original. Okay, maybe it's just me that hasn't heard their funny lines before, but they are funny :)

Alex and Harper were invited to a tea party by GG, one of the girls in school that has never treated them right. Alex found out the party was actually a Who-Can-Bring-the-Biggest-Loser party and Harper was gonna be winner. Alex tried to get Harper to not go, but Harper insisted on going ...

Alex : I can't believe I'm saying this but I'll go with you.

Harper : Really? You'll come with me to the tea party?

Alex : Yeah. You're my best friend, I have to stick with you through thick or thin. And I have a feeling this tea part is gonna be thick. Or thin. Whichever one is bad.

Too. Many. Board. Gaaaammees.

Can't recall what I've been doing for the past few days. Although Mandarin tuition, sleeping, and loads of board games with Jean, I can remember.

One of our nothing-to-do-so-we'll-play-some-board-games nights, Jean and I had a game of LOTR Monopoly, a game of Hogwarts Hallways, and three games of The Game of Life. Unless I didn't fully understand the rules of The Game of Life, that has to be one of the most boring board games ever :( To everyone who likes The Game of Life, my apologies. Someone needs to teach me the game ... the proper way of playing the game.

Last night, we (Sean, Jean and I) had another board game night. We played The Game of Life, Jean insisted on playing. Sean and I played Taboo afterwards, :) hahah, hectic game. Taboo would be fun with a whole bunch of friends on a sleepover. Later, we had three games of Cluedo and Scrabble! At first, Sean and I were really enthusiastic about Scrabble. lol, should've seen us near the end of the game, we were lying down on the floor ... zoned out ... it was like, we were so  bored out of our minds, but we just wanted to finish the game.

I HAVE ANOTHER THING TO BE ADDED ON MY WISH LIST ... my very very very loooong wish list.

Mystery at Hogwarts. It's a board game .... hahah after nights of board games, I would've thought I'd get tired of board games. Apparently not! :) I remember during one of our annual trips up to Penang for Chinese New Year many many years back, my cousins got Sean and I playing that board game .. over and over again. I also remember playing 101 Dalmantions on their playstation but nevermind that for now.

I also want a book from amazon.com. It's not a book I usually buy, but it looks interesting. But I don't purchase anything online, kind of scared something'll go wrong. I don't want to go through too much trouble (if anything does go wrong) for just one item.

I guess that makes it two items to be added on my wish list.

A Good Day :) rar

Daddy, Sean, Jean and I went to Kanna Kari House for breakfast. We were eating when all of a sudden we saw a rooster about two feet away from us. It crossed the road, and I said ..

M: "What a perfect time for a joke! Sean, why did the rooster cross the road?"

S: "ohhhhmygod."

Yeah, it seemed funny at the time.

Had rehearsal at Petronas tower like usual. I wore the pink hat :) just to get my friends' opinions. lol. They liked it.

Rehearsal was the usual :)

After rehearsal, Krystle, Cheryl, Siti, Aizat, Aleisa, Aethan, Surayyn, Jo, Sean and myself went to Suria KLCC for dinner. Alesia, Surayyn and Aethan went to Sakae Sushi. The rest of us (lol, well Krystle, Cheryl and myself) weren't in the mood for sushi so we ate at the food court instead, Siti ate with us.

Walked around after that. Krystle, Cheryl, Siti and myself bought stuff from Chameleon (umm, I think that was the name of the shop). I've used hair chopsticks before, but they never stayed on, I guess I didn't use the correct technique. But Krystle and Cheryl knew how to use the chopsticks, so I bought two, for them to teach me when we get home.

When we got home, I played for Siti Bella's Lullaby :) She had a different Bella's Lullaby on her phone, but both sound very sweet. Krystle taught me how to use the chopsticks, she did warn me it'll hurt, but I thought it was like a little pulling kind of feeling. lol, it did hurt, more than I thought it would, but I like how the chopsticks looked in the hair. The boys were playing Kingdom Hearts and Cheryl was on the computer. :) lol, kids and technology. After Siti went home, Krystle and I played had like a little piano jam :)

I waited at the door to wave to them as they entered the car, hahah, I could hear Cheryl greet their grandparents.

All in all, today was fun. I smiled a lot :) hhahah.

Half a day (well, almost) Musical Marathon

Kak Sabrina had us watch some musicals to get the feel and the idea of the scene.

The two songs I was really touched by was Sun and Moon and I Still Believe from the musical Miss Saigon. My parents watched the musical in Europe (i think), the one Lea Salonga starred in :( Grr I wish I was there. To watch Lea Salonga in Miss Saigon would be something I can never do, she's stopped playing the character.

I wish. I hope. One day, I'll be given the chance to perform those songs. hahah, that's considered my singing could pass off okay to sing such an emotional song. I didn't watch the full musical, but the songs nearly brought me to tears.

I also loved Carrying the Banner from the Newsies. They had such energy, such ... can I say passion? Watching them made me want to get up and dance along.

I'm .. nervous

I watched The Nanny Diaries last night, starring Scarlett Johansson. I love the movie :)

Honestly, how many times have I said "I love the movie" about every other movie I've watched during the holidays? Probably a bajillion times.

Nothing much to say about it. I loved it, was a little funny, OH YEAH, and I liked Chris Evans in the movie. He played the Harvard Hottie, the ... prince to the nanny. Only this morning I found out he was the same guy that played the cute fireball in Fantastic 4.

Although one of the few movies I really really really want to watch is Alice in Wonderland which will be released in the US on the 5th of March 2010. Some of my favourite actors/actresses are in it, let's have a look-see at the casting list, shall we? :)

Alice  Mia Wasikowska (I've never seen any of her other movies, but I'm looking forward for this one)

The Mad Hatter Johnny Depp (WHOOT, all the more reason to watch the movie)

The White Queen Anne Hathaway (Yet another reason to want to watch)

Caterpillar Alan Rickman (how cute is this?! I really want to see this)

Well, yeah.

the Mask of Zorro

I read a post on a blog, don't know who the person was, can't even remember how I got to the link. Even though that person wouldn't be reading my opinion, I felt I wanted to give it anyway.

Some say heroes exist as a result of the need for comfort. They say people refer to one person as a hero to ease the fear, to have hope, that someone, somewhere out there had 'it'. Some of the same 'they' say we don't need heroes, we just have to look for the strength from within ourselves. That heroes are a waste of hope, time, and energy. That heroes were no greater than any person on the streets.

But in my opinion, we do need our every day hero. All our fictional heroes had the extra strength, had the extra determination, which in a way did make heroes great/greater. Most people lose confidence/hope so easily when threatened by a bigger power. It takes a hero to face that bigger power. He might not have the ability to fly, like Superman, he may not be impossible to rid off, like Batman, he might not even have half the speed of Flash. He might just be an ordinary guy on the streets. But he's a hero cos of the hope he gives the people, he's a hero cos he could make the people believe.

Barrack Obama is a hero. Oprah is a hero ... uh ... heroine.

Yesterday, 10th December. I was watching TV with my sister, somewhat 5 minutes before my Mandarin tuition teacher would arrive for tuition. I heard the doorbell ring so I ran to where the switch for the gate was.

Just as I clicked the switch, I heard a scream from outside the house. At first I thought a neighbour fell down in her garden or something. When I looked through the blinds, the see if Vicky was walking in, I saw the gate open and a motorcycle right in front of the gate. That was when I heard the person scream again, was then that I realized the person screaming was Vicky, my tuition teacher. I knew something bad happened, I felt scared, honestly the worst of what could be happening struck me in my mind.

I ran to the door, unlatched it and swung it open. Vicky was already running onto the porch, she ran in the house and was panting :"They took my bag ...". I saw the motorcycle make a little U-turn outside my house and drove (or is it cycled??) down the hill. The gate was still opened. Summary? My tuition teacher was just snatched of her bag in front of my house, in broad daylight.

I didn't see, but Vicky said they held a knife next to her, that made her scream and threw down her backpack and tuition books. They cut her, just above the elbow. The cut wasn't very very deep, bleeding, but nothing severe. She called her boyfriend and also started making calls to credit card companies to terminate her card.

But what was really gonna cause her a headache, was all the contacts, her class schedules, her phone, IC and all that stuff that was lost. Vicky is young, she's just started her career (and is doing very very well, I must add), something like this was just so unnecessary. But still, luckily all they did was take her bag. They could've severely injured her.

Mommy asked Sean to stand outside the house (behind the closed gate) with the loud hailer:D lol. Just incase they came back for her car. Who'd know, you know? They were bold enough to snatch her bag in broad daylight, in front of a gate that was open. If we had a humongous dog, the dog would've attacked the motorcyclist and his pillion. OR! My brother could've been a buff dude about 180cm tall, probably scared the helmets off their heads.

The point is, they took the risk of getting caught, they were opportunists. As long as they got the bag, they'll go for it. I know, those two men might be going through a really rough time right now. I don't want to go blabbering away, so I'll make this as short as I can.

Stealing is sort of easy money. Sure, you stand the risk of getting caught every time you snatch, but it's like winning a million bucks gambling only in a smaller scale. I'm not saying gambling is a crime or anything. People that win easy money, is most likely to spend it all just as easily. Same like stealing, you steal, you spend, you do it all over again.

But get this straight ... Steal = crime. Gamble = not crime. But they're SOMETIMES similar how in some cases the money flies away just as easily as it was caught.

I think this post is long enough.

Lunch, A Movie, And a good talk+laugh :) Good day

I went out with Latifah and Sanuja this afternoon.

Was having a bad hair day :) My hair puffed up and was a little frizzy at the top so I wore a hat ... had no idea what else to do. Oh and I have got to learn the art of eyeliner from Sanuja. :)

Had lunch at Italiannies at Curve. We shared a Classic Carbonara and a fancy-named-pizza I think only Lat can remember what's the pizza called. I liked the pizza. Should ask her for the name for the next time I go to Italiannies. We had a nice talk and laughed a lot too :) Today Lat found out a very unexpected blog-follower to her blog :) Hah. That was funny, but too cool at the same time.

We watched a movie - Wild Child. We bought the tickets at 3.23pm and the movie started at 3.25pm :) That would have to be a first time that's ever happened. But it was cool. We missed the movie ad's and commercials which was to Lat's disappointment, the ad's were one of the main reason she actually goes for movies.

Wild Child, in Lat's words "was a complete waste of $8." Which was true in most parts. But for now I'd like to pin point the facts that I do like about the movie.

Firstly would be the scenery. It was very green, but not the sunny green that sometimes you'd think only existed in fairy tales. Very green, but it had like this wet, grey-ish thing going on as well.

Second would be whole boarding school thing. It made me, in some way I probably never thought I would feel, that I'd like to have a boarding school experience. I only looked at the down sides, I guess I never looked at the up side of it all.

Third, I wouldn't want to approach as a stereotype-r so I'll just lay it out. I liked how the girls in the movie weren't all girls-next-door. They were beautiful but in their own natural, raw, way. Not to say I have something against girls-next-door. It was something fresh, different air, from the the other movies.

Sooo, Wild Child, I think is a good watch for the first time. But it isn't a movie I'll watched for the second time unless out numbered by votes during a movie marathon or something like that.

Selamat Hari Raya Aidil Adha

We went to nenek's this morning, we were a little late so everyone had already left. Heh. Nenek asked us about Bei Jing, and she shared with us her experience there. She got to try China peaches and visit pandas, we didn't, I guess it wasn't the right season maybe.

Piano lesson was so and so. Further learned the Hungarian piece, which actually I'm starting to love. Hahah, to be honest, I practice River Flows In Your (Bella's Lullaby) - by Yiruma more than I do the pieces Miss Fan assigns as homework.

For weeks I've wanted to try the Raspberry Mousse cake from Cake Sense, but never got around to buying a slice. Today I figured I'll wait no more, I walked into the bakery to get that slice of cake.

When I walked in, right in front of me, well all the way on the other end of the bakery was Alex (from ballroom class). I was as shocked to see him as he was to see me. I never see Alex, or anyone in ballroom class except in ballroom class.

Alex : Why are you wearing baju kurung?
Mae : It's Hari Raya Haji.
Alex : ... You're Malay?
Mae : (lol) Yeah, I'm Muslim.

lol, yeah I get that a lot.  The cake was nice. But my favourite favourite favourite cake would be the strawberry cheese cake in Bangi.

December 7, 2008

It's really spicy.

The family went to Village Park - again, for brunch. I remember watching a movie, can't remember the title though, but in the movie, it seems if men use the word 'brunch', they're possibly gay. lol which I really can't connect so nevermind. I think the waiter at Village Park could recognize is from yesterday. He had on a humor kind of smile when he was taking our order.

Sean, Jean and myself went to Sunway. Sean was meeting up with Alan, Nis, Fin, Jo, and Aizat. Jean and I just wanted to use the TGV movie voucher our dad gave us. :) I wanted to watch Wild Child, maybe Twilight - for the second time. But Jean wanted to watch Bolt.

After the movie, Jean and I went to the arcade to look for the boys. lol, they were having a good time in the arcade. After they left, Sean, Jean and I went to Asian Avenue to this Korean restaurant to eat.

The waiter brought our food and just as he was leaving, he said :" It's very spicy." And all I could think of was, "maaan, it must be reaally spicy. How often do you hear waiters reminding you how spicy a dish was?" lol. Sean asked me to try the extreme chicken fried (or maybe it was something like that).

At first it didn't taste so spicy. So I thought I have conquered my weakness in spicy food, I thought I could finally handle spicy dishes cos usually Sean could eat food like crazily more spicy than the spicy food I can handle. After he ate the chicken he was panting and sweating, lol so imagine lah how good I felt.

:\ like minutes passed. It was then when I could REALLY taste the spiciness. It was BURNING on the tip of my tongue. Seriously I was off of my chair, I felt like jumping and just pant and pant and pant. It was super super super spicy.

After we paid, I was still panting, and the waiter (the same waiter that brought us the food) said:" it's really spicy, right?". Sean and I were like :"Yeah."

Le festin est sur mon chemin

I have the song Le Festin on the virtual touch on my page. Le Festin one of the songs in Ratatouille. I love it so much, I'll copy and paste the lyrics here :)

lol even though I have trouble reading.

French lyrics

Jamais on ne me dira

English lyrics

Dreams are to lovers as wine is to friends
Carried through lifetimes, (and) spilled now and then
I am driven by hunger, so saddened to be
Thieving in darkness; I know you're not pleased
But nothing worth eating is free

My hope is a banquet impatiently downed
Impossibly full, now I'll probably drown
Many thieves' lives are lonely with one mouth to feed
If giving means taking, I'll never succeed
For nothing worth stealing is ...

Free at last; won't be undersold
Surviving isn't living; won't eat what I'm told
Let me free, I'll astonish you; I'm planning to fly
I won't let this party just pass me by

The banquet is now underway, so ...
Bring out the bottles; a new tale has spun
In clearing this table, my new life's begun
I am nervous, excited; (oh) just read the marquee!
A lifetime of hiding; I'm suddenly free!
My dinner is waiting for me

A lifetime of hiding; I'm suddenly free!
My dinner is waiting for me

So beautiful :)

Speak of the Cahill

lol get it?? Speak of the devil, Speak of the Cahill? They rhyme.

Just this evening Isaac George and I were talking about Eddie Cahill. :) hah. He mentioned he knew Eddie Cahill cos he guest starred in F.R.I.E.N.D.S. as Tag, Rachael's younger boyfriend.

:) What a coincidence, the F.R.I.E.N.D.S. episode I saw today at 1.30am had Tag in it. Confession, I think Eddie Cahill didn't look all that bad with his longhair. I guess it never worked on CSI:NY cos his character was always in suits or black shmexy vests. But as Tag in F.R.I.E.N.D.S. he wore casual clothes, and the hair worked.

Oh, and I'm in love with Bella's Lullaby from Twilight. It's an instrumental, no voices. And the idea of Edward Cullen on the grand piano, eyes transfixed on his fingers on the piano keys, can I say ... takes my breath away :) If thats not to goo goo ga ga-ish. But it's so beautiful, how I wish I could play the song on the piano :)

Well there's an idea.

How could I forget

I could remember when I was young, my family loved a movie about a man who was so passionate about diving. Not just a diver, a marine, a soldier who dived into the deep sea for his country. I was young, I couldn't remember the title but I've always wanted to watch the movie again.

This afternoon the movie was out on Star Movies :) You cant believe how happy I was. I loved the movie when I was a child, the only vivid detail I could remember about the movie was Cuba Gooding Jr. and the scene where Carl Brashear took 12 steps in the 290 pounds divers suit, in the court, with an artificial left leg. I so admire and envy the determination of Carl Brashear. The movie was based on a true story.

How bout a restart?

I have cracks around both my ankles, result to the dry weather in BeiJing. They aren't to bad, just a little rough. And my leg from the knee below is so dry and cracked :( Garrh I hope it gets better soon.

I did nothing today but sulk about my coming home to Malaysia. Although I made certain my sulking wasn't obvious to others in the house. I just wished the holidays were a little longer (pfft, what about a lifetime?).

I have nothing on for the whole weekend. Which is kind of good for me, I guess. I need time to restore my energy before all the tuition, piano, ballroom, rehearsals and outings with friends for the rest of the holidays.

Honestly, I am looking forward to 2009. Especially going back school, firstly as a fourth former, and the second up side about going back to school would be the friends I've missed dearly. What I do not look forward to would be upstaging of the Bahasa Malaysia, as how my seniors put it, form4 BM is utterly different from the BM in form3. Hah, whoopee.

I promised myself improvement in my Bahasa Malaysia, at least theoretically, but so far, no improvements. Yeah, I admit the laziness got to me, another thing is all of a sudden other things came into my holiday picture and it seemed like when school re-opens I wouldn't have the free time to really really enjoy (ehem, rehearsals and ballroom).

I think I have a rough idea about where I'll be heading after form5. Lets hope I can stick to it, better yet, lets hope I'll be blessed with the ability to carry out what I plan. So no pressure, I wont set for me to achieve ALL of these according to plan. This will be my rough guide, if I ever find something else that attracts my interest, something else I feel I'd rather go with, I'll change the plans. Plan as I go :) Everyone needs a back up plan. And a back up for your back up plan.  But instead of the headaches I'll have to go through remembering, pressuring myself to stick with the plans, I'll plan as I go. I think that'll be a little better for me.

During my form 4 year I'll study for my A Levels as well as the school syllabus. After SPM I'll take the A Levels examination. Hopefully after that I can get myself into a good college, and from the choice of the college, I'll figure out what course I'd go with. In my case, which is not having any clue about what I want my profession to be in my future, looking for the college/uni that specializes in a certain course would be tough as I dont know what is the course I want to follow.

So. Hope for an a acceptance in a good college/uni and figure out from there.

Oh, Mae. Stick to one plan. :) This one is a good one to start, you have about 2 months to prep yourself :) I can do it. urrh, hopefully.
